it's uneven as hell but that's part of its charm. it's usually softer than most deftones, but also has their heaviest and fastest stuff. it's angry and pretty. it's probably the most extreme dtones release in terms of moods spanned

Yea it definitely jumps from style to style but it's unfocused nature oddly works.

It's in a way a very chaotic album giving the background of how they even recorded this. The fact that it holds some of their heaviest and absolute slowest songs really defines my point to me. There's a lot going on but its all worth paying attention to.

The cheat code song(lol why deftones) is so depressive yet it makes me feel so much warmth too.

it makes me feel like i'm in a lighthouse looking out at a storm at sea. i like to listen to it like an outro to mein because mein's not the strongest on its own

^ Like that lighthouse analogy for the cheat code song

Working through my second listen through the album, "Hole in the Earth" just about blew my head off. Might even be better than the tracks off White Pony

Certainly not better than all of White Pony's tracks, though.

Definitely better than Korea and Teenager imo but I still love all of that album.

white pony isn't as memorable for the songs. i mean there's obviously highlights but what makes it so good is the vibe and how cohesive it is. no song seems out of place and it seems to be very calculated. while this is totally the opposite, nothing makes sense.

Yeah I love White Pony but I'm liking the more ambient vibe here so far. Grooving on Cherry Waves right now and it's amazing

Hard to beat Digital Bath though
