Neurosis is a much better version of this band.

I only listened to Enemy of the Sun, and I honestly think this album is garbage. I hesitate to try their more recent albums...

I'm sick of this. Have a read: http://mediasnobs.com/2012/08/plagiarism-imitation-and-the-neur-isis-debate/

"While Neurosis pioneered Post-Metal with chaotic dissonance in mind, ISIS take a different approach. They employ the Sludge and Industrial style but tone it down to make way for Post-Rock-esque compositions and more melody driven songs. Atmosphere is also a big factor. ISIS are much more minimal in their approach as well. Neurosis layer textures and sounds over and over until it’s a thick wall of distortion and aggression. ISIS build slowly with small melodies and minor distortion in comparison."

I dunno this makes me wanna conclude that Neurosis is a better version of Isis.

debate is stupid yeah cuz clearly Cult of Luna is better and Neurosis added post-rock and atmosphere before Isis. Neurosis don't even layer anything, if anything it was with key tracks. Isis used a shit load of distortion before Oceanic anyway.

It was an album comparison, not discog comparison. That's why in the blog I explained even though ISIS' earlier works (EPs and Celestial) are much heavier and distorted, they're still completely different. I'm also aware Neurosis added Post-Rock and atmosphere, but Panopticon employs the Post-Rock style a lot heavier than Neurosis. And Neurosis do layer all the music, whilst ISIS on Panopticon tend to remain much more minimalistic in their approach. You don't hear Neurosis toning down the music as much as ISIS did.
