there's something about this undeniably vapid
Right, just going off the music there, or that all popstars are vapid, or...?
Which basically means that Britney is often left sounding a lot like Ke$ha
This line is just stupid, almost as dumb as people saying that Xtina was trying to be Lady Gaga on her last record.
just to cash in on that genre's current trendiness
And this? I bet if one of his old mates in some indie band tried to do something involving this "dubstep" thing, it would be "exploring new musical territory" or some shit; because it's Britney it's suddenly "cashing in." Don't know how you can really make that claim without...well, sounding like a dick.

ugh there's really nothing I dislike more than critiques that have to do with the reviewer's opinions and how they're "stupid" or "wrong"

This has nothing to do with opinions, he's pretty clearly making claims without any backing whatsoever.
Seriously, if this is "Contributor" quality, I want to be Emeritus.

how do you back that someone sounds like kesha in a review? or that it's bland or trendy? you write about the music, you write
your opinion of it. he did that well enough, of course he's biased not being a huge pop fan, but you can't expect somebody to
somehow make "objective claims" in a review
again nothing wrong with critique, i'd just like to see some critique of the actual prose or the overall output of the review

well written review obviously but this is why I don't write metal reviews

Sorry David, but I have to agree with Eno here - I think Conrad presented his points well, and yeah they're scathing, but in a humorous way for those who agree with him. Certain lines like this, "Which basically means that Britney is often left sounding a lot like Ke$ha" are just his opinion and not something I'd fuss over.

I thought the review was pretty good, but then I agreed with every word of it.
Still, it was well-written.
although I did like this, Atavan

I'm impartial. The review is not glaringly bad or anything (at most, it's perhaps just bland) but the examples Atavan gave were the select things that irked me about the review - I don't think Britney's "cashing in" at all and there's really no grounds to say that she isn't just expanding her palette. She's hardly just emulating Ke$ha, for that matter (most specifically because Ke$ha is a shitfuck and there are actually some good songs on this).
Two pence for all.
